Bellamy’s Win Signals Broad Support for Public Schools and Student Success

Anchorage, AK – Today, Margo Bellamy declared victory in the race for Anchorage School Board Seat A, having earned overwhelming support from voters who rejected the promise of divisive culture wars and chose instead to stand behind her experienced, student-centered leadership.

A lifelong educator, public school advocate, parent, and nana, Bellamy centered her campaign on the critical need to fully fund public education, address the teacher recruitment and retention crisis, and ensure every student is college, career, and life-ready. Her victory reaffirms that Anchorage families value steady, experienced leadership that puts students first and strengthens our public schools.

“I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who partnered with our campaign,” said Bellamy. “This race was always about our students, our educators, and the future of our public schools. I’m honored that voters put their trust in a vision rooted in equity, excellence, and a deep commitment to learning.”

While her Republican opponent ran a campaign built on misinformation, fear, extremism, and little else, he failed to garner any meaningful support. Parents, educators, retirees, and former students saw through the noise and chose competence over chaos, experience over outrage, and a trusted leader who shows up to do the hard work Anchorage voters have now elected her three times to do.

“Anchorage deserves a school board that reflects our shared values and stands firm in support of public education,” Bellamy added. “I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together. It is a true privilege to continue serving our incredible ASD students, staff, and families.”

Bellamy’s continued service on the School Board guarantees leadership committed to educational excellence, safe and supportive learning environments, and equitable opportunities for every student to thrive.
